בצוהריי השבת הוזעקו כבאיי תחנת נתניה לשריפת דירה ברחוב הגליל 22 בעיר. האש שאחזה גם בדירה וגם מחסן בקומת קרקע העלתה עשן רב וסמיך שעלה לקומות העליונות. מהדירה שבה היה מוקד הבעירה חולץ קשיש כבן 83 כשהוא במצב קשה, בעוד שמשתי דירות אחרות חולצו עוד שלושה בני אדם נוספים, אחד במצב בינוני ושניים במצב קל . ארבעה אנשים נוספים חילצו עצמם לאחר ששאפו עשן רב.
