שלושה ימים לאחר אירוע הקריסה בכפר קנא, בו חילצו הכבאים אדם חי מתוך מחפרון שנטמן באדמה, סגרה המשטרה את הכביש (754)שמעל צלע ההר שקרס.

החלטת המהנדסים והמשטרה לסגור את הכביש מוכיחה עד כמה נכונה היתה ההחלטה של הכבאים מתחנת נצרת לפעול באירוע בצורה מבוקרת, איטית ובטוחה ביותר, על אף הלחץ הכבד שהפעילו תושבים מודאגים במהלך כל פעולות החילוץ.

קריסה נוספת הייתה גורמת באופן ודאי להילכדותם של הכבאים ושל שאר הכוחות שפעלו במקום.
